The problem we are solving
The Guanacas Foundation faces the challenge of making biodiversity conservation sustainable in the Northern Altiplano of Antioquia, Colombia. Faced with the predominant agricultural activity, we seek to create alternative job opportunities that stop agricultural expansion. In a region where the cost of dedicating land to conservation is high, our approach is to innovate to balance the economic well-being of local people with the preservation of their biodiversity.
The solution proposed
The Guanacas Foundation's ecotourism project innovates by integrating the community into conservation. We offer immersive experiences, such as endemic species viewing and interpretive hiking, with trained local guides. Our ecological facilities minimize environmental impact, attractive to partners and investors interested in sustainability and social responsibility. This approach not only protects biodiversity, but also generates jobs and environmental education, benefiting the local community and promoting conscious and sustainable tourism.

This comprehensive approach not only safeguards biodiversity, but also raises the quality of life of the community, ensuring a legacy of sustainability and respect for the environment.

Sustainability of the project
Sustainability of the project
A self-sustaining business model will be implemented that generates income through the sale of tourist services. We will form strategic alliances with travel agencies and NGOs to ensure a constant flow of visitors and we will collaborate with governments to obtain support and certifications in sustainability. Reinvesting profits in the community and environmental conservation will ensure the financial viability and lasting impact of the project.
Replicability of the project
Replicability of the project
To expand the ecotourism project and increase community participation, we will implement training in tourist guiding and business management, promoting local entrepreneurship in services such as accommodation and gastronomy. We will involve residents in decision-making and promotion of the destination, using digital marketing techniques. Thus, we not only grow in capacity and tourism offer, but we also ensure sustainable benefits for the community.
Progress and impact tracking
Progress and impact tracking
We will use key indicators such as: Economic impact: Income generated by tourist activities. Number of local jobs created. Social impact: Satisfaction and community participation measured through surveys. Number of residents trained in ecotourism and business management. Environmental impact: Conservation status of local species and habitats. These indicators will be reviewed periodically to adjust strategies and ensure the sustainability of the project.
